Act 3: Summarizing the subject until now.

Short Description

The last activity we did on the first part of the subject, Educational Resources, was a summary about what we learnt during those weeks. We had to remember and think about all the contents and practices we did in this part of the subject.
For it, each group had to do an animated video using Moovly or Powtoons, with a length of 1’30’’ maximum.

Our history about how we have worked

To sum up all the knowledge we acquired those weeks before, we chose the web tool Moovly, which surprised us because it was a fantastic and original way to make videos. At first we were a bit confused because Moovly was really a new thing for us and we didn’t know how to start to work on the video. But then, we started to investigate and we found some interesting and easy tutorials on the Internet, so we got relaxed: it wasn’t as difficult as we thought!

We discovered that Moovly is an easy animation tool that lets you create animated videos, banner ads, interactive presentations and other compelling animations online. The truth is that we like a lot the programme and we are glad to know about its existence because we think it could be useful for a lot of different situation. We saw a few Moovlys created by other people on-line and we strengthen the idea of how funny, dynamic and useful it was.

After hours of type buttons and explore all the possibilities Moovly give to us, we started to design our Moovly, and we decided to divide it in three parts: contents, pedagogy and technology, which is the TPCK model. We found interesting to do it in this way, because we think that in this subject we have do and learn things from the three domains.

We worked and worked, putting photos, words, animations, music, transitions and so on and we think we did a great job distributing what we have to do each one of us.
Like every week, we shared out the work, so every person of the group contributed to the task, but on the other hand, we also worked together to carry out a great video.

Finally, the day of the presentation of all the videos arrived, we were nervous but we knew that we worked a lot, so we were proud about our project.

We did like a “Eurovision contest” but Moovly, which seemed to be so fun. All was just a friendly game for us until we started to get 12s from a lot of groups, and we started to shout it out and clap our hands, stand up, even whistle!
In the end, Hide and Seek and we won the competition.
We were so amazed, marvelled and we get a rush of self-stem for the rest of the week. This showed us that we could get whatever we proposed!


Reflection

At the beginning, we were confused the same as every moment we start a new task. That is because we didn't know how to use this new tool; we are use to having explanations about all the new things, but in contrast we are not use to investigating by ourselves. Maybe, this is the reason why we sometimes get stressed easily when Linda gave us a new task.

As we said before it is suppose that one of the competence that we have to acquire during the school and the high school is to be able to learn by our own and also the digital competence (how to create blogs, use different tools...) but before this subject we did noy have it. We have been memorizing all our school life, most of the activities that we did at class was about memory for that reason it has been so hard for us this kind of teaching and learning. We think our teachers did that because they explained things to us in the same way they were teached. 

We also had troubles when we realize that we had to summary all the subject in only 1:30 seconds. We had many ideas and we had to select some of them and then, summarized. It was difficult for us, because we are not very good at summarizing things. The reason of this, in our opinion, is that in other courses teachers use to gave us all the contents summed up so we had only to study it directly.

As we said before, the beginning of the task was a little oppressing, but once we had a structure in mind, we started configuring the video step by step. We decided to centre our video on TPACK model, and we classified the contents we have learnt in Technology, Pedagogy and Contents, to make understood some that is so important: the combination of these three aspects to be a good teacher. We were making a task based of another task that we did at the beginning of the subject: TPACK, so that showed us that we were able to put into practice all the knowledge we had acquired before, and to relate it with different situations.

With this activity, of course, we have learnt to use a new tool, and for us, a very useful tool: Moovly. It's a very interesting and funny way to show things, ideas, that is, to present something to any people. We are future teachers, and we are in a society that is developing more every day, so we have to learn how to use technological tools, and Moovly is one example.

We have also learned how to sum up a lot of things in a short period of time. That is a very important aspect in learning because we have to know how to express things in an easy and funny way, for our future students and also for ourselves.

Finally, we think that we have learnt how to learn, we mean, now we know how to investigate and we don't need that teachers tell us all the things we have to do. We have learnt how discover things alone, that is, learning by doing, and not only listen to the explanations of a teacher.

We think that activity is the best we have done. We liked very much the tool of "Moovly" so we putted a lot of effort in doing it. How we've worked and how we've organised that week was very well. The first time we really haven't had any problems with the work, we put a lot on enthusiam to do this video and we felt very proud when we won the competition. Our video was the most voted by our compains so we really think that it summarized in a very  enjoyable way the subject and the contents we'd learned at that moment. For all of this, we think that for this activity we deserve a 10!
Moreover, we think that we worked all of us very hard and in a cooperative way in this activity for the portfolio, of course any of us have a 10 in the activity because any of us did the work perfectly, but because of this, we think that work as a group is do your work and help each other and this is exactly that we have done so we think that we all deserve a 9 because we aren't perfect but we complement each other.
